Benefits of Sound Therapy

Sound therapy is a complementary therapy to help relieve stress, anxiety, tension and also physical pain. This healing modality has existed for centuries, and has proven results dating back to ancient Greece, early Tibetan monks and indigenous Australians (over 40,000 years ago) who used didgeridoos in their healing rituals.

Over time, sound therapy has developed significantly, as a way of treating health issues such as insomnia, migraines, depression, and even high blood pressure. And different practitioners use a variety of instruments and techniques to achieve inner alignment for their clients.

At VWellness, we specialise in sound baths and sound therapy massage with Himalayan singing bowls, to help harmonise the physical, mental and spiritual bodies.

Sound baths have become increasingly popular in recent years. All you need to do is simply lay down and have the meditative frequencies of the bowls wash over you. The vibrations from the bowls balance the left and right side of the brain, calm the nervous system, and help induce an alpha state, where your mind is completely relaxed. And the reason it’s called a bath is because you’re completely immersed in the sound waves produced by the instruments being played. Online sound baths can also be arranged, from the comfort of your home, you just need to wear headphones for full enjoyment.

Alternatively, sound therapy (vibroacoustic) massage is a unique and enriching full-body massage which uses an ancient Eastern technique with Himalayan singing bowls, to help release stagnant energy, emotional blocks and physical discomfort and pain, through the resonance and vibrations of the bowls on the body. It’s been proven to decrease stress and strain, massage the internal organs and tissues, and purify energy channels. And, it can be ideal for anyone dealing with physical and mental pain from an injury, as it provides a great opportunity for rehabilitation.

Sound therapy is medicine, and the kind we need more of - preventative holistic healthcare used to complement your lifestyle, and support the mind and body back to alignment.
